Building Strength: An Introduction to Power Yoga

A faster-paced, energetic practice designed to challenge your body and focus your mind.

What is Power Yoga?

Power yoga is all about energy, strength, and flow. It’s a vinyasa-inspired practice, which means we move through sequences of postures, linking each movement with the breath. The pace is faster than gentle or restorative yoga, giving you a steady rhythm that keeps your body engaged and your mind focused.

In class, we also bring in opportunities to challenge yourself — whether that’s holding a posture a little longer, trying something new, or even adding weights to deepen the work. It’s not about perfection; it’s about building strength and confidence step by step.

A chance to build strength and energy.

Power yoga is a faster-paced, strength-focused class that challenges both body and mind. I teach a weekly Power Yoga class at Elevate Yoga in Sheboygan where you’ll flow through energizing sequences with options to push further.

To see the upcoming schedule, check the Elevate Yoga Momence app. From the teachers dropdown, choose Mark Meise, and you’ll find my classes there.

Why try Power Yoga?

Power yoga can be a great fit if you’re:

  • Looking to build strength and tone muscles while still moving mindfully.

  • Wanting a higher-energy class that keeps you engaged from start to finish.

  • Interested in combining breath, movement, and strength training.

  • Already active and ready to explore yoga as a complement to your workouts.

  • Excited to challenge yourself in a supportive, encouraging space.

What to expect in a Power Yoga class

During a power yoga session, we’ll flow through sequences that blend strength-building moves with traditional yoga postures. Expect to break a sweat as we build heat in the body and maintain momentum through the practice.

I’ll offer cues to keep you connected to your breath and provide options so you can choose the level of challenge that works best for you. If you want to push further, you might add weights to certain postures for an extra muscle-toning boost.

By the end of class, you’ll feel both worked out and grounded — strong in your body and clear in your mind.

Try a class or book a private session in Sheboygan

Power yoga is about discovering your strength — not just in your muscles, but in your focus and determination. Join me in Sheboygan or Kohler, and let’s flow together with energy and purpose.

If you’d like a slower, more accessible approach to movement, my Gentle Yoga classes are a great option. And if what you need is deep rest and stillness, my monthly Restorative Yoga class gives you that space to recharge.

Build strength and confidence.
